On Feb. 14, a sea of green flooded the State Legislature as about 100 University of Baltimore students—more than ever before—participated in UB's annual Advocacy Day in Annapolis. Students met with over 50 different legislators during scheduled appointments and had the opportunity to mingle with legislators as well as with UB administration and faculty during a catered luncheon.

The students asked legislators to support the governor's inclusion of funding for a new Law School building in the capital budget. Students also had the opportunity to sit in during session and committee hearings and to stop by to thank the governor's staff for the governor's support. The day was extremely successful thanks to all the student support!

In other news, Victoria Gelfman, SBA 3L representative, has been working hard to raise funds for the class gift. Vickie recently organized a successful bake sale and has worked hard to plan "Black and White for a Night," a fundraising event which the SBA will co-sponsor with WBA, FLA, APALSA and PAD.

Also, the SBA will be conducting a poll to determine the recipient of the James May faculty award for mentoring. Please be on the lookout for a polling e-mail in the near future. If you have a favorite teacher, take the time to place your vote.

The SBA is sponsoring two big events in the near future. The Barristers Ball will be held on March 29 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor; tickets will be $35 each and will soon be available. The event will sell out, so don't delay in purchasing tickets. Also the Annual Kickball Cup, the kickball tournament against the University of Maryland, occurs April 12, so get your teams together.

In an effort to organize the student group bulletin boards on the second floor of the law building, the SBA is asking that all groups using a board keep them updated or risk losing board privileges to another organization. Any questions about bulletin board usage should be directed to Ashley Bonifant at edward.bonifant@ubalt.edu.

Keep an eye on the announcement boards in the Law School hallway for more exciting SBA programming.
