News Editor

The news editor works directly with writers toward completion of monthly assignments, helping to develop and improve writers' news articles as well as their skills. He or she edits news articles for AP style, in-house style, spelling, grammar, content, organization, accuracy, etc. The news editor also writes headlines and cutlines, and assists in proofing pages on production day.
- Requirements:
- * Prior editing experience
- * Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Track Changes
- * Work well under deadline pressure
- * Excellent communication skills
- * Ability to work constructively with other staff
- * Maintain reliable e-mail access (including weekends)
- * Must be current University of Baltimore student
- * Ideal candidate will have supervisory experience and a journalism background
