A local elementary school will benefit from over $2,000 in funds raised by the Black Heritage Gala held Feb. 28 at the Lyric Opera House. The event featured art by Larry Stevens and special guests such as Joan M. Pratt, Baltimore city comptroller, Marvin L. "Doc" Cheatham Sr., president for the NAACP Baltimore branch, and UB scholar Lenneal J. Henderson, distinguished professor, Schaefer Center for Public Policy.

UB's Black Student Union (BSU), in conjunction with the African Student Association, the Black Law Students' Association and the Caribbean Student Association, hosted the event.

Although the food is gone and the entertainment is over, donations will be accepted through April. Contact Black Student Union at ub_blackstudentunion@yahoo.com.
